ON THE ENTITLEMENT TO KNOWLEDGE

Kate Manne joined us by Skype on February 19th, 2020, to share some of her new work on male epistemic entitlement. What are some of the forms of epistemic entitlement that accrue to men, and what are some of their consequences? In the workshop, we explored different ways of understanding and explaining the phenomena of mansplaining and gaslighting, and explored how pressures to resolve conflicts might have unjust consequences for those who more easily bow to others.
